In case the post title didn’t give it away, we want to start sharing other awesome stuff that we run across that we think you might like. Other people’s geeky DIY projects, Etsy shops you should know, things we’re working on, etc.
First off, Instructables member leftmusing made pretty much the best cake ever. We love The Thing, and love this cake. (via Technabob)
Speaking of cakes…. When was the last time you had a cupcake with Doctor Who sprinkles on it? Or maybe Harry Potter sprinkles? Steampunk sprinkles? (which we’ll call Gears of War sprinkles, and put on a red cupcake) Answer: Probably never. Well, now you need to. The Geeky Hostess is developing a line of geeky sprinkles, and you can be a part of the launch. Back her Kickstarter campaign with twelve bucks or more, and get your own bottle (or pledge $26 for a set of all three geeky styles). We don’t really bake much, but this might make us start. Or at least we’ll start adding more sprinkles to our lives, which can’t be a bad thing.
Remember when we made our big Geek Gift Guide? We ended up getting a few of the items off of the list, and one of our favorites is this Gas Mask necklace from Night Walker Designs. I’ve been wearing it as both a necklace and a bracelet. We love that it brings both Doctor Who and Borderlands to mind – two of our favorite things. BorderWho?
On a more local note: we just stumbled upon maybe the best bookstore ever, and if you ever find yourself between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, you should go. We’re shooting our current film partially in Ojai (a couple doors down from Malcolm McDowell’s house. Who kind of makes us have a Key & Peele-Liam Neeson reaction. Whose work we enjoy, in a professional way), and found nearby Bart’s Books on Yelp. Bart’s is a huge, OUTDOOR bookstore. Check this out:It must never rain in Ojai? Cool place, huge selection of everything ever, plus they have a resident cat that lives on their keyboard. A keyboard cat, if you will. The books in the very top photo of this post are a few of the many that we picked up there.
And finally, Our Nerd Home is featured this week as the Home/DIY Superstars at Cut Out + Keep, AND Kat is the “Lady Geek of the Week” over at Being Geek Chic. Both links include interviews, so check them out if you would like to know more about us. From Star Trek to Misfits shirts to Public Enemy to ninja haiku’s.

If you want to see a bit of what we’re working on next (Spoiler: MST3K), we posted a preview on our new Instagram. We also have geeky valentine’s gifts, a giant metal DIY D20, zombie projects, a LEGO mirror, and Legend of Zelda DIY’s posting soon.
Anyway, what do you guys think of us doing this as a weekly/biweekly feature? Some weeks would feature more of other people’s DIY’s, some weeks more geeky crowdfunding campaigns, some weeks might have Christopher Walken jewelry (because), etc, etc.
