Two things. First – we finally had to do a minor website redesign! So take a look around, and read on for details. Second – we are thinking of introducing a “Your Nerd Home” feature on the site, featuring geeky house tours. We want to see your house!

So… the site update. We have been resistant to mobile responsive design, since most of us have phones big enough to handle a website the way it looks on desktop. BUT, we’ve been kinda forced into it by a new website search rank indexing system yadda yadda yadda, so finally updated the Our Nerd Home blog design. We tried to keep it as similar as possible to the simple old layout (we hate when sites that we like suddenly – BAM – look completely different). That said, take a look around, and if anything is weird, wonky, or doesn’t work, we’d love if you could let us know. We’re aware that on mobile the centering is off, and we’re trying to figure that out (any WordPress experts want to help? 😉 ).
Onto more fun news: We want to see your home! Your geeky home, to be specific. We love sites like Apartment Therapy and Design Sponge, and the way that they encourage community by showcasing home tours for design lovers. Well, we’re all geek decor lovers here, yes? So show off your nerd dwelling! If you’re interested, just send us 3-5 photos of your interior, with some info about your space and the furnishings in it (plus links to your blog/social sites/etsy/whatever else you’d like us to link to). Here are tons of examples: AT House Calls. Definitely doesn’t have to be that descriptive or professionally photographed, since we keep things pretty lighthearted around here. 😛 We want to show how other geeks out there incorporate their fandoms into their daily living and decor styles. You can see the beginnings of our own Our Nerd Home Home Tour, here.
So what do you think of the new design? And will you be sharing a look at your geek home?

April 26, 2015 at 2:22 pmLove the look, except the off center mobile lol. I have a shelf of my Loot Crate goodies! A geek shelf, if you will. I’d love to share the pic if just a shelf is acceptable 🙂

April 26, 2015 at 2:31 pmThe off center mobile is so frustrating! I’m sure it’s the easiest fix ever, we just don’t know enough about coding. :/
And a shelf/wall is definitely acceptable, as long as you zoom out so we can see how it works in your space (like how your geek love integrates with the rest of your decor). If that makes sense. Feel free to email info @ ournerdhome and we can go from there!

April 26, 2015 at 7:38 pmFantastic new look! I’ll have to think on sharing our geek home…I always feel like I’m so terrible at design! Our house is such a mishmash of things haha.

May 4, 2015 at 6:12 amHome tours sound like a lot of fun! I think the only geeky room I have is my office, and whoa it’s a mess! We packed up most of our geek stuff when we had our daughter and it’ll all be hiding in my office for a few more years yet.
Oh, I don’t know about the centering thing. You should look into Facebook groups that can help with some of the more technical things. I like the Free Weekly Mastermind group.
